Espigas houses a library and periodical collection with over eighty thousand monographs on Argentinian and Latin American art; anthologies and presentations from seminars and conferences on art history and theory; group and solo exhibition catalogues featuring Argentine artists, whether held in Argentina or abroad, and of international artists held in Latin America. The collection also includes publications related to awards, juried shows, and contests; biennials and international fairs; and sales, at auctions or not. It includes over one thousand magazines and other periodicals, newsletters, bulletins and art event calendars, and art-related press articles from around the country.
We also house documentary archives and collections produced by artists, institutions, and other actors in the sphere of Argentinian and Latin American art and culture. The documents in the archive include photographs, slides, transparencies, negatives, recordings, posters, drawings and sketches, documentation on artworks, letters sent and received, handwritten and typewritten documents, printed documents with or without notes on the margin, personal and governmental documentation, greeting cards and postcards.
Consultations at Espigas are done exclusively by requesting an appointment through our online channels. We will confirm by e-mail when the material is ready in our reference room.
