In mid-1993, the only surviving set of documentation from Witcomb, the country's first art gallery, was acquired. This archive was the basis and catalyst for the initiation of Fundación Espigas and its documentation center.
The Witcomb Gallery Fund consists of 72 bound volumes, 2 albums and 5 boxes containing various pamphlets documenting its institutional history. In 2009, thanks to an agreement with the Centro de Estudios Históricos e Información Parque de España, the archive was the first and only Espigas archive to be transferred to microfilm.
