The Centro de Estudios Espigas (EAyP, UNSAM) and the Fundación Espigas announce that, after 6 years of dedication, Agustín Díez Fischer will end his role as Director, to pursue new personal and professional projects. Carolina Vanegas Carrasco will take over as Director of the Centro Espigas as of June 2023.
Vanegas Carrasco holds a Ph.D. in History and a Master's Degree in Argentine and Latin American Art (IDAES-UNSAM) from the Universidad de San Martín, where she is currently a professor. She is also a researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones en Arte y Patrimonio (CONICET-EAyP, UNSAM). Vanegas Carrasco has held fellowships from institutions such as the Getty Foundation (United States), the Deutsches Forum für Kunstgeschichte (DFK, Paris), the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, CONICET, and the Ministry of Culture of Argentina. In addition, she has held various management positions both in Argentina and abroad. She is the author of the book Disputas monumentales. Escultura y política en el Centenario de la Independencia published by the Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio Cultural of Bogota in 2019.
The authorities of the Escuela de Arte y Patrimonio of the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and the Fundación Espigas welcome Vanegas Carrasco in this new stage. They also extend special thanks to Díez Fischer, who will continue to participate in the Fundación Espigas as Vocal emeritus, and congratulate him on his appointment as Craig M. Cogut Visiting Professor (2023-2024) at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at Brown University.
